Ippo fonce sur Saeki !! Après qu'il ait lancé un déluge de coup que Saeki a bien sûr esquivé, le gong retenti : le premier round vient de se terminer. Lors de la pause, Saeki annonce à son coach qu'il va "disparaître" de la vue d'Ippo. De son coté Ippo est inquiet, en effet, malgré qu'il soit parvenu à bloquer Saeki dans le coin, ce dernier a réussi d'en sortir sans difficultés. Le deuxième round commence, et la même chose que dans le premier round se produit : les deux boxeurs se regardent mutuellement sans attaquer.
