Veronica Marsz住在加利福尼亚的海边一个超富裕的社区小镇Eptune，这里住着百万富翁和为百万富翁工作的人们。当然，Veronica就属于第二类，她的老爹Keith是镇上的sheriff，老美的sheriff 可和警察有点不一样的，虽然都是执法人员，在编制上sheriff 可谓是“民办”的。虽然是第二类，但是Veronica在学校还是过的不错，因为她的男友Duncan是镇上亿万富翁的儿子。
生活似乎过的不错，但是突然一切都变了，先是男友没有征兆没有理由的和她分了手，然后最好的朋友Lilly——也是前男友的妹妹死了，老爹为了调查谋杀案丢了工作，现在成了私人侦探，老妈也离家出走了，自己的一次聚会上被下了要药迷奸了，用Veronica自己的话来说就是Life is a bitch, until you die。生活变了，朋友也变了……@时光网
